So, like, how come it's so hard to draw feet backwards on a ref?
You would think that perhaps the entire ref would be done by now, but no. Feet's gotta be backwards.
You know, the feet thing was really a "once in a year" meme riddled joke, but now it is literally becoming the bane of my progress.
Foot Lord plaguing me long after SMI aside (and people do tag me as the guy who made the bloody thing), I am now under the duress of actually practising to draw feet. Backwards.
Forwards I'm fine. I think. Backwards? Absolutely not. Especially if they are at an angle. And of course they are going to be at an angle because you gotta have a so subtle yet clear pose that doesn't make your OC look like a cardboard cutout; which is the biggest fear, isn't it?
Afraid your OC isn't going to look "unique" or "interesting" enough or, oh hell, someone making comparisons between your OC and a pre-existing character. Which WILL happen because nothing in the world is truly unique and there is seldom an idea not taken. But you know, they can make their comparisons and their observations because at the end of the day YOU made that character.
By right alone it is you who determined the personality, the look, the feel and the story. Not them and they have no right to attempt to belittle you just because "Their hair is blue, just like this Japanese children shibadoo!". You shouldn't have to build up all that monumental self doubt and shy away just because some tin-scattermoosh makes some minute criticism. You shouldn't have to get depressed.
It's frog-flipping ART for crying out loud. A past time, a hobby, a job to some even. It shouldn't be the be all and end of your entire social life! Got some nimmy making comparisons? don't waste your time. Had a god-for-honest piece of criticism? Use it to your advantage! Ask for help! YOU HAVE FRIENDS YOU GASPAN USE THEM.
And if someone is just being mean? Not worth the dirt on your foot sock.
So anyway hopefully I will master drawing backwards feet before the magic convention will start.
